Guide to Kathmandu
Kathmandu is a city at the top of the world. It is the first point of entry into Nepal for anyone wanting to trek through the mighty Himalayas. The city itself is a mass of winding streets that date back hundreds of years and hide ramshackle homes and markets that are occasionally bisected by modern highways along which the shops and office blocks of the modern city are located. Amongst the many attractions on offer in Kathmandu, the many Buddhist temples are some of the most popular for visitors, while the hippie apartments in the city centre provide the main nightlife.
